The Chariot – Lizzo

“No I’m not a snack at all / Look baby, I’m the whole damn meal.”

-Lizzo, Juice

The Chariot is about hard-won triumph. It’s the culmination of strength of will and perseverance. Rock those laurels, because you earned them. For me, Lizzo was a natural choice. She carved out a place for herself in a landscape that is not known for being particularly inclusive, and managed to do it while unabashedly celebrating everything about herself that pop-culture so often implies (or outright declares) is wrong: her gender, her skin color, her size, her sexuality.

Lizzo shut them all down, establishing herself as a powerful, sexy, electric performer and musician. She’s become an inspiration to people from all walks of life, by being true to herself and embracing a constant message of self-love, in addition to being a simply extraordinary artist. She even managed to create a surge in popularity for the flute (her instrument, “Sasha Flute” has its own instagram).
